How long will Scale Insights retain my data?

Learn how Scale Insights’ 2-year data retention policy works and how to access historical data beyond this period.

Scale Insights is moving to a 2-year data retention policy at the end of August 2026. Going forward, only the latest 2 years of data will remain available for direct querying in your account. 

We’ve also launched the Historical Data Archive, which lets you access non-SP-API data older than 2 years through a historical download. 

Important: Data older than 2 years is not being permanently deleted. Eligible non-SP-API data will remain available through the Historical Data Archive, but it will no longer be available for dynamic querying through the Scale Insights portal. 

Why is Scale Insights changing its data retention policy? 

As accounts accumulate years of historical data, the amount of information Scale Insights needs to store and process continues to grow.

Removing very old data helps us:

  • Reduce database size and server load
  • Maintain fast account performance
  • Keep Scale Insights running efficiently as the platform continues to scale

What is non-SP-API data? 

Non-SP-API data refers to historical information stored or generated by Scale Insights that does not come directly from Amazon's Selling Partner API (SP-API).

This may include Scale Insights-generated or platform-specific historical data. 

Note: Not all historical data are available for download through the archive.

How do I download older data? 

 If you need to access eligible non-SP-API data that is more than 2 years old, you can use the Historical Data Archive. 

To download your historical data:

  1. Log in to your Scale Insights account.
  2. Go to Settings → Historical Data Download.

  3. Select the historical data you want to download.
  4. Download and save the data to your preferred location.

What happens to my data? 

Going forward, Scale Insights will maintain 2 years of data for direct querying through the portal. This means you can continue to view and work with your latest 2 years of data as you normally do. 

For data older than 2 years:

  • Eligible non-SP-API data remains available permanently through the Historical Data Archive.
  • Older data will no longer be available for dynamic querying through the Scale Insights portal.
  • You can use the Historical Data Archive to download the historical data when you need it.
